Bespoke Hemingway Tours in Cuba

My mojito in the Bodeguita del Medio and my daiquiri in the Floridita
(A small plaque hanging in La Floridita, signed by Ernest Hemingway)

Cuba was Ernest Hemingway’s home for 20 years. Hemingway loved Cuba and his writing and his life story is tightly bound up with the history of the island both before and after the revolution. Here he wrote his most memorable tales; For Whom the Bell Tolls, the Nobel Prize winning The Old Man and the Sea, the Pulitzer Prize winning Across the River and into the Trees and the lesser known A Moveable Feast.

Our Ernest Hemingway Cuba tour is timed to coincide with the annual Billfish fishing tournament and the anniversary of the Hemingway International Yacht Club, 10 days of regattas and sailing from the marina to the Morro Castle.

If you’re finding yourself thinking “where is Ernest Hemingway’s house in Cuba?” then our tour is perfect for you, as we visit the Finca Vigía. Now a museum, Hemingway’s old home is a must see, filled with old manuscripts and art left behind the by the charismatic writer.

From here we explore the rest of Havana, including Hemingway’s favorite bars in cuba; the Floridita and the Bodequita Del Medio. These charming bars are filled with photographs of the man, drinking with the likes of Spencer Tracy, Jean-Paul Sartre, Ava Gardner and Errol Flynn.

If you’re next question is “where else did hemingway live in cuba?”, the Ambus Mundos will answer the question. One of the oldest hotels in Havana, Hemingway stayed in room 511, here he wrote For Whom The Bell Tolls, on a typewriter that’s still there.

We sail along the northern keys and intersperse this unique Hemingway experience with a cultural tour of Cuba. Santa Clara to Remedios and Havana or a few days relaxation on the keys.

Our Hemingway tours in Cuba are curated by the renowned actor and Hemingway aficionado David Soul who has put together this definitive tour which includes visits to some of the most historic American influenced buildings on the island from the Du Pont Mansion in Varadero to the Historic Nacional de Cuba. He has also included a large slice of revolutionary culture showing how impressed Hemingway was with this historic event.

Managed by Esencia Experiences the tour includes Visa, VIP arrival in Havana, 5 star accommodation, luxury air conditioned transfers and our expert bilingual island guides as well as selected events and meals where indicated.
